Go Natural and Save Money
Keep it Simple
As consumers become more and more aware of the dangers
of chemical cleaning products, there is a growing movement toward cleaning
the way your great-grandmother used to - simply and naturally. Even
today, some of the best and safest cleaning products can be made with
what you already probably have in your pantry and backyard. A good
rule of thumb is not to use any cleaning product with ingredients that
you don't recognize or can't pronounce. Why not give these tried and
tested cleaners a try? You'll see that going green isn't difficult,
and it feels pretty good, too!
Vinegar is one of the best cleaners around
because not only is it a natural disinfectant, but it also cuts through
grease and grime and is a stain remover. Use undiluted on windows and
rub off with crumpled up newspapers or mix vinegar with salt for a natural
abrasive cleaner.
Baking soda absorbs odors and also makes a great general
cleaner when mixed into a paste with some water.
Lemon juice has many uses in natural
house cleaning. You can mix this juice with water in a 1:4 ratio for
a great-smelling glass cleaner. You can also put a whole or half lemon
right down your garbage disposal to refresh that potentially smelly part
of your kitchen. For a fantastic furniture polish mix 2 parts olive oil
to 1 part lemon juice, rub into furniture, then wipe off with a soft
cloth.
Toothpaste is a natural way to polish even your best silver. Use
it as you would use a traditional silver cleaner, but without any worries
about getting those concentrated chemicals on your hands.
If making your own cleaning products is not your thing, but you would
like to use safer, more natural products in your home, there are some
good alternatives on the market. We've tried several different brands,
and unequivocally recommend using products by Melaleuca, The Wellness
Company.
These are the only products we use in our cleaning simply because of
how well they work and how great they smell. You can find out more or
order products through Erica. This excellent company also sells vitamins
and hygiene products for adults and kids.
